Just One Special Person
Benjamin was drug exposed when he was born and was placed in foster care.  When the 30 Days to Family™ team received the referral they began immediately contacting relatives.  Through extensive searching – making phone calls, knocking on doors, internet searches, they found 126 relatives.

One special relative, Benjamin’s maternal aunt, was determined to take care of him.  Lea had raised her own children and firmly believed Benjamin would thrive in her care. “We have had a lot of loss in our family,” she said. “I don’t want this little boy to be added to it.”

Lea began the process of making her home ready and lining up childcare. Within thirty days she brought Benjamin home.   His grandma, aunts, uncles, and cousins, are now able to see him at family functions.  “I’m so glad I can watch over him,” Lea said. “Our family is just like everyone else’s.  We have had our issues. Still, Benjamin knows his relatives. He knows that we care.”

Waiting Kids - Laytien Minimize

Laytien, age 10, loves animals.  He's very knowledgeable when it comes to dog breeds, too!  Laytien says that he likes tarantulas and pythons.  "Maybe just to look at," he adds.  Laytien is very caring.  "I'm happiest when I'm around nature," he says.  Laytien enjoys fishing and being outside every chance he gets. Laytien says others say he is caring, strong, and respectful.  "It's important to give people respect because then they will give it back to you," he said. Like most kids his age, Laytien likes playing video games and being with friends.  He is smart and enjoys working with electronics - taking things apart and putting them back together again. Other people who know Laytien say he is nice and that he shares his things with others and helps out whenever he can.  If he could change one thing about the world, Laytien says he would make everything free!  To him, being adopted means "having a family to care about you."  For more information about Laytien, please call 314.367.8373 (800.FOSTER.3).
