Thanks for your inquiry! Through this site you will find information that should answer many of your questions about foster care and adoption. It will also help you understand the steps involved in becoming a foster or adoptive parent.
  • See Procces & Basic Requirements / FAQ / Waiting Children in left column
All foster/adoptive parents must be licensed. While there is no charge for this service some of the things required for licensing, such as smoke alarms, physical examinations, etc., may create an expense for families that is not reimbursed.

Licensed foster parents receive some assistance to offset the expense of caring for a child in foster care. Medical, dental, prescriptions, and any approved therapeutic expenses are covered through the Missouri Medicaid program. Childcare offered by a contracted facility is also available for foster children under the age of thirteen, if foster parents work or attend school. On-going support may be provided for children adopted from the foster care system.

We are happy to answer any questions you have or to help you get started on your journey to become a foster or adoptive parent. Contact us toll free at 1-800-FOSTER-3 between 8:30a.m. and 4:30p.m. Monday through Friday, or e-mail info@foster-adopt.org.   Please view the links provided from the Area Navigator on left for access to additional resources.
