Each day without a family feels like forever to a child in foster care. The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is committed to ending the wait through its signature program, Wendy's Wonderful Kids (WWK). The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption awarded a grant to the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition to hire our Wendy's Wonderful Kids Recruiters, Liz Johnson and Dawn Milburn, to focus on finding adoptive families for children in foster care.
Liz and Dawn work on their caseloads aggressively to find adoptive parents for their caseload of 15 youth who are waiting for a family of their own. Contact Liz or Dawn for more information about the program or to express your interest in a particular child.
Wendy's Wonderful Kids was created to more quickly move thousands of children out of foster care and into adoptive homes. With Wendy's Wonderful Kids recruiters in all 50 states, and the District of Columbia this program strives to place 8,000 to 10,000 foster care children with adoptive families within five years.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a non-profit charity dedicated to increasing the adoptions of the more than 150,000 waiting children in North America's foster care system. Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy's and an adopted child, created the Foundation in 1992 in support of the vision that every child needs a permanent home and a loving family. The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption focuses on increasing adoption awareness while supporting model adoption service programs and is committed to ensuring that adoption from the foster care system is streamlined, affordable and accessible to any family wanting to adopt.
