Kayla is a bubbly eleven-year-old girl with a sunny smile. She certainly has a lot to smile about these days... Kayla is the newest member of a large St. Ann family. Just like in her dreams, Kayla now has a mom and dad all her own. And as a big bonus, she has 9 siblings ranging in age from 3 to 24.
For the first time last summer, Kayla enjoyed a vacation at the beach. She marveled at the vast ocean and built castles from the sand. When the family drove through Washington, DC, Kayla sharpened her interest in learning about government and now says she wants to be like Condoleezza Rice when she grows up. A strong willed little lady, Kayla is excelling at school and has definitely found comfort in the stability of her new life.
This bright picture is very different from her past. It was less than two years ago that Kayla was thrust in and out of more than 15 different placements, including foster care, relatives and a failed adoption that could have crushed her spirit.
However, Kayla's strength and loving ways shone through in her feature on KSDK NewsChannel 5’s "A Place to Call Home". This wonderful family of nine made the call and the commitment to become Kayla's forever family!
