What We’ll Discuss:
This training features The Health & Education Justice Initiative (HEJI) presenting an overview of their program and systemic work and address specific issues such as educational issues impacting children placed by CD in residential facilities, including the lack of Best Interest Determinations in many cases, as well concerns regarding the education/special education provided in/by these facilities; the Safe Schools Act, a collection of Missouri laws regarding school discipline that lead to significant impacts on children’s due process rights as well as gaps in the alternative education provided to such children; and more.
