Collaborate & Connect—Parents as Teachers:  Strengthening Families Everywhere

This training for child welfare professionals features Parents as Teachers (PAT) in Missouri: a free, voluntary early childhood education and family support program offered through local school districts. It serves families who are expecting a child or have children from prenatal stages through kindergarten entry. Trained parent educators provide regular home visits and support to help parents understand child development, strengthen parenting skills, and promote early learning. The program also includes developmental screenings, group connection activities, and links to community resources, all aimed at helping children be healthy, safe, and ready to learn. Join in to learn more about Parents as Teachers and how to partner with them!

Home visit model aims to:

  • Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve positive parenting practices
  • Provide early detection of developmental delays and connection to services
  • Improve parent, child, and family health and well-being
  • Prevent child abuse and neglect
