The Coalition received a record-breaking 4,593 Little Wish requests during the 2024 holiday season. Once again, our generous community granted every wish, ensuring that our children felt special during the holiday season.
One of those children was Willie, who wished for new earbuds. Willie said, “Thank you for the earbuds. I was so excited to get them in the mail! I have wanted earbuds for years. They’re awesome! Thank you so much.”
And Katelyn, who received a gift card to her favorite kids’ jewelry store. Katelyn said, “You didn’t have to get me anything, but you did. I’m so grateful.”
Little Wishes would not be possible without our generous donors, nor would it be possible without the support of our incredible team of volunteers who donated more than 581 hours, working behind the scenes to ensure that every child received the holiday gifts they requested.
That’s people like Wilmetta Toliver-Diallo, who has volunteered with Little Wishes for 15 years! Wilmetta shares, “The Little Wishes program has become something that’s very important to me. I come from a family where my grandmother always thought it was best to share what you have. Little Wishes is in that spirit, especially in the holiday time of year when people are most generous.”
Wilmetta generously volunteered her time to purchase Little Wishes granted by donors, ensuring they were delivered to families in time for the holidays. She adds, “It’s great to see the thank you letters from the youth who received the gifts. They talk about how touching it is for them to be able to have something around the holidays. Foster families are full of love, but sometimes have limited funds for holiday gifts, so it’s great to be able to give back.”
