Training for Parents

Each year, the Coalition provides thousands of hours of skill-building trainings to foster / adoptive / guardianship parents at no cost.

How the Coalition Supports Foster / Adoptive / Guardianship Parents

Licensed foster parents are required to complete 30 hours of in-service training per licensure period (every two years). The Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition began hosting Foster/Adopt/Parent Workshops to help parents:

  • Connect with other parents to share resources
  • Learn how a child’s prior experiences can impact their behaviors
  • Explore ways to enhance their strengths as a parent
  • Share and learn new skills to influence their child’s behaviors and attitudes
  • Discover ways to reduce the stress of parenting

Impact of Prenatal Substance Use

This training will help you understand the characteristics of prenatal substance exposure, including Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, and their potential impact on development. We will also discuss common challenges faced by caregivers and how to reframe them. 2 hours training credit
