Our Programs

Project Dream Dress

Every high schooler deserves to feel and look their best at their prom, and Project Dream Dress is here to make that happen. We’re dedicated to ensuring that youth impacted by foster care experience a special prom night by offering beautiful dresses and dapper tuxedos.

We were thrilled to give away hundreds of beautiful gowns to youth impacted by foster care and local students last year—all because of the generosity of our community. We look forward to doing to all again in 2026! Please check back for more information.

During Project Dream Dress, young people impacted by foster care and students from districts across the metro area come to shop for free prom dresses and accessories. They choose a specific appointment time and are paired with a volunteer Personal Shopper who helps them pick out their perfect dress. We have seamstresses who will provide free alterations, and each student will get a makeup bag as well!

Donate Dresses

We will gladly accept donations of new or gently used prom dresses year-round. We are also always looking for accessories to help our students complete their looks, such as earrings, necklaces, and evening bags/clutches.

Bring your donation to ReFresh at 1710 S. Brentwood Blvd., Brentwood, MO 63144.

Referrals

Caregivers and case managers can refer juniors and seniors (11th and 12th grades) to Project Dream Dress.

Before submitting a referral, please read the following information:

  • The giveaway typically runs late February to early March, including the weekend. The specific times will be listed on the referral form.
  • Referrals may only be made via the online referral link above and can only be submitted by a high school guidance counselor, social worker, case manager, or caregiver. Please fill the form out with the student. Referral information will be used only for scheduling purposes, and demographic information will remain private.
  • Please make sure the student checks their school activities and work schedule prior to selecting three preferred appointment times that would work for them. Please plan on spending approximately 1.5 hours at the event to choose a dress.
  • After the referral is approved, you will hear from us to schedule the specific time for your student(s). They will receive an email, text, or call confirming their appointment time. Please let the student know.
  • Students will receive a reminder email on the day prior to appointment.
  • If a student misses their appointment, we will reach out to reschedule if there are available slots. Students and caregivers are always able to reach out to cancel or reschedule if needed.
  • We make every attempt to accommodate the needs of the students referred to our program. If special consideration or accommodations are needed, please contact me.
  • If you have students impacted by foster care who are in need of tuxedos or suits for prom, please let us know and we can provide more information.
