Mike Gatrell is proud to serve as Chief Growth & Revenue Officer at Vantage Credit Union, which is where he first learned of the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition. Mike believes deeply in the Coalition’s mission and the transformative impact our agency has on children and families. As a member of the Coalition’s board, Mike takes every opportunity to contribute more directly to our mission, using his experience and resources to help further our vision.
Mike’s background in credit union operations and leadership brings invaluable strategic thinking, financial oversight, and a collaborative mindset to our board. His passion about building sustainable systems and partnerships that help nonprofits like the Coalition thrive is apparent in his every action.
Why did Mike choose the Coalition as a cause to get behind? Mike explains, “While I don’t have a direct personal experience with foster care or adoption, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges and triumphs through close friends and colleagues. Their stories have inspired me to be part of the solution and advocate for children who need stability and support.” Mike also credits Eric Acree, CEO of Vantage Credit Union, with shaping his approach to leadership and inspiring him to pursue opportunities that make a meaningful difference.
Looking forward, Mike anticipates focusing on the Coalition’s community partnerships as we explore innovative ways to support families. He says, “I hope to contribute to long-term strategies that increase awareness, funding, and access to resources for children in need.”
One of the ways that Vantage Credit Union helps children in need is through sponsoring KSDK 5 On Your Side’s “A Place to Call Home,” news segments in which children who are legally free for adoption and in need of permanent family are highlighted doing an activity they enjoy. Since the partnership’s inception, more than 600 children have been matched with their forever family!
Mike’s desire to continue to our agency in the long term speak to his commitment to our mission and vision. “To me, this vision speaks to the fundamental human need for belonging, safety, and love,” Mike says. “Every child deserves not just shelter, but a place where they are valued, nurtured, and given the opportunity to thrive. It’s a powerful reminder of what we’re working toward; a future where no child is left without a family.”
