What Is Foster Hope Day?

Foster Hope Day is a fun, virtual day of giving to benefit children impacted by foster care and the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition.

All day on Wednesday, November 8th.

Where Is the event?

This is a fully-virtual, online event. We will be streaming live throughout the day on our Facebook page, and you can make a donation to benefit the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition at Charidy.com/fosterhopeday.

In honor of this year’s theme, Tales of Adventure, when your day-long gifts total $75 or more, a book will be donated to a child in foster care. Thank you to St. Louis Black Authors of Children’s Literature for partnering with us!

Donate each hour (minimum of $10) to enter to win an exciting raffle prize! Hourly prizes include a weekend at Innsbrook, a basket of the finest wines, a magical evening of entertainment at the Fox Theater, and more!

Hourly Raffle Prize Rules:

Between 8:00 a.m. and 7:59 p.m., each time you make a minimum donation of $10 at Charidy.com/fosterhopeday, you will receive a prompt for one of two hourly raffle prizes. Click your choice, and you are automatically entered. Only one entry per hour will be considered, so multiple donations during an hour will not help your chances. Make sure to plan ahead!

About Kenya

Kenya Ajanaku is a nationally known drummer and storyteller whose talents have captivated his audiences for over 26 years. His signature program, “Rhythms and Folklore of Africa,” is a unique combination of storytelling, drumming, and dance.

Kenya started his career as a professionally trained jeweler, but after some travel and reflection, he discovered his calling as a performing artist. He soon became a percussionist for the world-renowned Katherine Dunham Dance Troupe. He sharpened his skills as a dancer with the master West African drummer Mor Thiam in the dance company Cosaan. He also developed his stage presence as drummer and vocalist with the InFra-Red Rockers, a reggae band.

Master storyteller Bobby Norfolk introduced Kenya to the art of professional storytelling. Today, Kenya performs nationally, combining storytelling, drumming, and dance in unique, unforgettable performances.

Kenya also devotes his talent and energy to his community – serving as founder and Executive Director of Harambee Institute, a nonprofit organization that promotes personal and social development through experience in the cultural arts.
